Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano in her basement and bewildered by the sound it created. Her parents May-Britt along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a career or hobby but for growth. In the end, she began writing songs of her own. Bjork and Leonard Cohen are among her favourite composers. After her mother said that the songs she wrote could be used to not gain fame for her but instead to inspire individuals to recognize their own value and impact on this world, she began playing them on stage. When she was six she started playing the piano. At age nine, she, started writing songs. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora's accomplishments were never the goal of her. As she says, she simply enjoys writing songs. According to her, the music she writes is the way that she feels anything.
